The revelations regarding Trump’s surrogates’ ties to Russia and other foreign countries has increased the pressure to have an independent investigator assigned to the case and for Trump to fully release his taxes for, at least, the past 10 years.
One of the biggest revelations is former NSA General Michael Flynn retroactively filed paperwork admitting to being a foreign agent during the campaign and transition. While participating in top secret classified briefings, Flynn was being paid by the Turkish government to lobby on their behalf. It’s likely that he filed the paperwork to head off a breaking news story in the coming days.
Jarod Kushner, Trump’s Senior Advisor, closest ally, and son-in-law currently stands to make over $400 million in a deal with a bank with ties to the Chinese government. Sean Spicer refused to answer direct questions regarding Kushner’s ties to the Chinese government and the fact he’s also negotiating with China on behalf of the White House.
The icing on the cake is the leak of Trump’s 2005 tax returns. Unfortunately, it was only the first two pages of the return. It provides amounts, but does NOT show the sources of his income, nor does it show any dealings with foreign entities that could expose gross conflicts of interest. Remember, Trump refused to divest from the Trump Organization.
This tax return reveals favorable information about Trump’s amounts, both income and taxes paid, which begs the question, did Trump leak these two pages of his 2005 tax returns.
Knowing Trump, I’d have to say that if it wasn’t Trump, it’s one of his surrogates at the direction of Trump.
This release might come back to bite Trump in the ass, as such information only serves for we the people to want to know more, especially the source of his income and his financial ties to foreign governments.
